Voies Navigables de France (VNF) is a public institution and state operator responsible for managing, operating, and developing 6,700 km of canals, rivers and streams. Our network serves the territories and benefits various sectors: environmental, social, and economic. Our 4,000 staff members carefully regulate water resources in the public interest, with respect for the environment. The navigable waterways of France also create opportunities for the development of activities on and around rivers and support the transition towards new economic and ecological models, promoting low-carbon freight and sustainable tourism.
