The role of the Ministry of Armed Forces and Veterans is to ensure the protection of the territory, the population and French interests. It also carries out other missions within the framework of international (NATO) or regional (European Defense) agreements and treaties. Beyond these missions, the Ministry of Armed Forces and Veterans is also involved in public service tasks. Its human and material resources support or complement the actions of other ministries, both on a daily basis and in emergencies, within the national territory and abroad.
The Ministry of Armed Forces and Veterans is the largest public buyer and the largest land user of the state. It supports the local economy and helps create jobs in regions.
