The French Ministry of Culture protects and enhances our heritage, supports creativity, promotes cultural diversity and encourages universal access to art and culture. It implements a national cultural policy and operates in the French territories, notably through the Regional Directorates of Cultural Affairs (DRAC), the Directorates of Cultural Affairs (DAC) in the overseas territories, and its operators. It works in close partnership with local authorities and their associations.

The French Ministry of Culture pays particular attention to priority urban policy districts, rural areas and overseas territories.
