Launched in 2019, the '1000 cafés' association aims to open, maintain and grow multi-service cafés in towns with less than 3 500 inhabitants. The various local services offered by the cafés – bread delivery, newspapers, small grocery store, parcel relay, etc. – are chosen in conjunction with residents, elected officials and managers, in order to meet the needs of the area. A starting point for activities that create social bonds and conviviality, '1000 cafés' places social innovation and co-construction at the heart of cafés. Today, the network brings together more than 220 supported municipalities throughout France.
