Awards (9)

What is the Salon des Maires et des Collectivités Locales / Mayor and Local Authorities Exhibition Innovation Awards competition?

The Salon des Maires et des Collectivités Locales/ Mayor and Local Authorities Exhibition Awards single out innovative products, processes, equipment, systems, services and techniques for distinction. Developed by goods and service providers within the local authority sector, the innovations provide practical solutions for the present-day issues faced by local decision-makers.

How can I take part?

The competition is free and reserved for exhibitors – the main firms hosted – at the Salon des Maires et des Collectivités Locales/ Mayor and Local Authorities Exhibition. Exhibitors are required to have confirmed their stand booking at the exhibition on the competition closing date at the very latest.

Exhibitors taking part must forward their duly completed applications. The closing date for entries will be announced shortly.

What types of innovation can compete?

The innovation awards are open to all exhibitors, irrespective of the type of organisation (company, institution, association…), whether public or private. Applications can involve innovations in terms of fittings, equipment, products or services. They can also feature an innovative project or initiative conducted in collaboration with a local authority.

Who chooses the competition award recipients?

The selection process comprises two stages – an initial stage ahead of the exhibition then a second one during the exhibition.

Before the exhibition, a pre-selection phase determines the finalists in each of the categories. A panel of experts reviews all of the innovations competing. Its members are experts and technicians across each area of expertise who have the ability to assess the innovative nature of each innovation designed for local authorities.

The finalists will have the opportunity to present their innovation during a pitch session designed for the Innovation Awards, during the exhibition (usually on the opening day).

During the session, a panel comprising mayors and elected representatives assesses each of the finalist innovations to gauge their feasibility for local authorities. Panel members are provided with a scorecard and award recipients are selected based on the highest consolidated scores at the end of the session.

The award winners in each of the categories are presented at a special session in the Innovation Arena during the exhibition.

When will the competition awards list be released?

The Innovation Award finalists are announced at their dedicated pitch session when the exhibition opens – the first exhibition session designed for the Innovation Awards is usually held on the first day.

The award recipients are presented during the presentation session that follows the pitch session (the second Innovation Awards exhibition session, usually held at the end of the first day of the exhibition).

The finalists and award winners will benefit from the PR activities revolving around the Innovation Awards programme.

What do award recipients win?

Competition award winners do not receive prize money. However, the competition showcases the details of each selection stage to SMCL visitors and the media, and both finalists and award recipients benefit from visibility on signage platforms during the exhibition.

Is there just one Innovation Award at the Salon des Maires / Mayors’ Exhibition or several?

The competition has 8 categories:

– Energy efficiency & saving
– Environmental planning
– Responsible digital technology
– Mobility
– Sustainable development and living conditions
– Local vitality
– Safety – risk prevention and management
– Solidarity & Inclusion

Exhibitors have to choose a category for each product or service entered – the same innovation cannot compete in several categories.

What is the deadline for entering the Innovation Awards?

The deadline for the 2024 competition will be announced shortly.
