PUMP-ILLE-UP

Perros-Guirec Turbine Project

The project involved integrating a turbine into an urban water network, at the base of a reservoir, in order to harness energy that had previously been dissipated. Initially, a regulation valve reduced the pressure to allow 280 m³/h to flow into the reservoir, resulting in energy loss in the form of noise and heat.

Now, a turbine installed in a bypass performs the same hydraulic function as the valve while converting this energy into electricity. The turbine delivers a power output of 32 kW and produces 100,000 kWh per year, entirely self-consumed by the nearby filtration plant, thus covering 20% of its energy needs.

Objective : strengthen territorial resilience in the face of climate change.
