Contexte
Since the implementation of the French AGEC law, municipalities must provide residents with solutions for sorting organic waste at home, including apartment dwellers who form the majority of urban households. Existing solutions are often bulky, complex or require outdoor space. Ceercle offers a simple, aesthetic and ready-to-use composting solution that enables city residents to compost and grow plants at home, even without a garden.
Acteurs
Ceercle is a mission-driven company based in Lyon, producing terracotta worm composters and breeding its own compost worms locally. The project is deployed with local authorities, social housing providers and environmental mediation networks. A strong community of users supports mutual learning and adoption. Two pioneering municipalities structure the model: Tassin-la-Demi-Lune (Territoria Award 2024) and Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon (Mayors of Rhône Trophy 2025).
